A zombie walk is an organized public gathering of people who dress up in zombie costumes. Participants usually meet in an urban center and make their way around the city streets and public spaces (or a series of taverns in the case of a zombie pub crawl) in an orderly fashion. Zombie walks can be organized simply for entertainment or with a purpose, such as charitable cause. Originating in North America during the 2000s, zombie walks have occurred throughout the world.
Nightmare Realm is a haunted attraction that will be opening in Mattawan, MI in the 2020 season. Nightmare Realm will be a more immersive experience than all other haunts, putting its visitors into the storyline and making you feel like you are a part of the show.
Starting off as a home haunt by Charles Brandt and his friends in 2001 Nightmare Realm (then Detroit Nightmare) grew in size and popularity as years went on. In 2018 Nightmare Realm put on its final show as a home haunt, which saw over 2500 people come through in 2 days, and raised $3500 for Bronson Children’s Hospital. Nightmare Realm has had hundreds of National Honors Society High School Students as actors, helping to achieve their needed service hours. Over the last 9 years Nightmare Realm has raised over $15,000 for charitable organizations, most prominently Bronson Children’s Hospital.
Nightmare Realm LLC is partnering up with Bronson Health Foundation to provide Bronson Children’s Hospital with 100% of our donations. Specifically we are supporting the Journey Bead Program which can be read about in the description from Bronson’s website below.
The Bronson Children’s Hospital Journey Beads help young patients honor their hematology/oncology treatment experience with tokens that symbolize each significant milestone along the way. At the start of their care, each patient is presented with a length of leather personalized with their name spelled out in glass beads. As they undergo chemotherapy, radiation and surgery, they are rewarded at each treatment point with a one-of-a-kind glass Journey Bead that celebrates their progress and gives them strength and hope.
Every time they are facing another uncomfortable needle prick, or other procedure, their beads remind them of what they’ve already bravely endured. The beads also help children with cancer or blood disorders share their experiences in a tangible way with family, friends and other patients and serve as an ever-present visual reminder to take the journey one step, one bead, at a time.
Bronson Children’s Hospital Journey Beads are crafted with care by the hands of community artists, and each one is unique. In the hands of a child, they become precious keepsakes that tell a powerful story of strength, courage and hope.
